Is it really that awful to not have baby in a car seat on the plane?

Traveling by plane with my four month old soon and I cannot afford to pay $400 extra just so she can sit in a car seat. But now I'm starting to feel guilty about it. But I honestly can't afford it. And this is the only way I'll see my parents... so she has to be on my lap. Is it really so unspeakably dangerous like everyone's making me feel...

Depends how long the flight is but they're not meant to be in their car seats for that long anyway. I'm sure being in a car seat carries more risk than the likelihood of being in severe turbulence to the point you can't physically hold your baby.

I have never seen a baby in a car seat on a plane. Any child under 2 just sits on the premt lap with a special seatbelt. Did that with mine several times

They are supposed to give you a serious discount. Not charge you $400. Some will still let you travel with them in your lap.

My daughter slept in my lap when we flew home. Sure, it's more dangerous if there's serious complications during flight, but those odds are low.

No. I would put my baby on my lap.  He would be very uncomfortable being in there for that long if awake
