Do think cutting a childs hair as a form of punishment is abuse?

I feel like cutting off a childs hair as a form of punishment is so malicious and cruel and I just wanna hear some other opinions.

My husband an I cut our teenage boy's hair as a punishment. He wanted long hair but refused to wash or brush it. He was warned 3 times that if he didn't take care of his hair then it would be cut. He didn't take care of it so we cut it. I do not see it as abuse in my situation as he was old enough to know better and I'm certainly not going to wash my teenagers hair but I can see how other situations could be considered cruel.

I think deliberate humiliation is a definite form of emotional abuse and should absolutely not be supported by any form of the imagination.

I think the only time I would ever find that acceptable is on those occasions you see kids mocking someone for losing their hair due to chemo. But otherwise, no. I don't think it's okay to cut your kid's hair off as a form of punishment.

Ummm probably not... The only time it would be considered is if they consistently didn't take care of their hair and I warned then before hand that I may cut it shorter if they didn't start taking care of it. But I guess that's not really a punishment and more of a maintenance thing. But it seems kind of cruel to do that if they're being punished from something totally unrelated.

My daughter had lice 4 times in 1 year because she kept hugging the same girl and I told her if she came home with lice one more time I would shave her head. Maybe it's mean but I really didn't care at that point

Ok this is a sad situation but I used to work at a school in a very low income area. These two girls kept getting lice and they aren't allowed to attend school when they have it so the mom got so fed up she shaved both girls heads. Like they had a military cut. Two little girls in elementary school. I felt awful for them. But there's so much else going on there too.
