So I recently just finished my first pack of BC pills and my period started when I was taking the inactive tablets. Me and my boyfriend have been talking and we're contemplating on having sex without a condom. How do I know for sure that the pill is working for me?

If you've been taking it within one hour of your regular time, then you're 99.7% protected. To be protected, you have to take it around the same time every single day. For example, let's say you usually take it at 5pm. You have until 6pm to take it to be at perfect use. You can take it at the earliest, which is 4pm.

If you've been taking it within 12 hours of a certain time, you're 91%-99% protected. For example, if you take it at 5pm, you have until 5am to take it or else you'd be unprotected, meaning you have a very, very high chance of pregnancy.

As long as you don't throw up within four hours of taking the pill or have 6+cups of diahrrea within 24 hours, then you are protected.

Make sure you always start your next pack on time, or else the week before and after will be unprotected.
