I think it's true to a point. If my kids are THE most important thing, my marriage will suffer, if my marriage suffers everything suffers.

I think this is all up to interpretation. My child is the most important thing-which to me makes my husband the most important thing. If that makes sense. We both came from crappy homes where we were not put first and it was known that we weren't important. Our child is our driving force. We don't want one doubt in her mind that she isn't the most important thing to us. We strive to be better people for her. To set a good example. To show what a good marriage looks like. And I guess if that makes her entitled someday that's a risk I'm willing to take. Although we will do our best to make her not be that way.

I agree. My husband agrees. If you completely devote your entire life to your babies and neglect your marriage, you'll be left with an empty nest AND an empty marriage. There has to be a balance. Of course my baby comes first to a point, I mean he is completely dependant on me. But I try to involve my husband as my much as I can so he doesn't feel left out. You will still be left with your husband when the kids move out and start their own lives, so your marriage is also very important.

The kids are more important because they didn't ask to be here. We chose to bring them into this world, so we now have the responsibility to make sure they have everything they need and that they are happy.

Hard for them not to. As a mother that's how you're programmed...how do you turn that off. I sometimes think I'm obsessively in love with my 7 month old son but I can't help it.

I agree with all the sentiment of the article, but but the wording.  I don't think " most important" is the correct term...  I don't know what would be better wording though.
