I'm only asking this as I'm in 6 month relationship with my boyfriend we're both 17, and he is my first boyfriend and one day I feel like he will be the one you know. If you use protection you can't get a STD right? Just I know all about it just need to make sure for when this day happens.

Even if you use protection you can get an STD. Things happen. See if he'll get tested before you have sex. Thats the smartest way to go about it.

Condoms protect against STDs, but not other forms of birth control. And the age depends. I'd say when you're emotionally and physically ready. Under 16 can have bad consequences physically. And when you can have access to a gynecologist. If you still live with your parents and they don't want you on BC, it might be better to wait until you move out.
