Is it rude to request gift cards on your registry?

For my baby shower I am really hoping to receive gift cards in addition to the items listed on my registry so I don't end up with a bunch of crap I don't need or won't use because I don't like. However I wasn't sure if this was a rude request? I feel like it's someone's baby shower they should have the right to request what they prefer to receive but at the same time I don't want to feel rude or snobby. Do you guys think it would be ok for me to put on my registry a small little note that says something along the lines of gift cards from these stores would be much appreciated and list stores that I would prefer to receive gift cards from or is that rude?

I don't think it's rude to have an option for a gift card but if someone actually took the time to view your registry, then they're going to buy something off it that you picked!

What I do think is tacky is when people specifically request monetary gifts only (not saying you are). Someone I know had a baby shower last month and she wrote "monetary gifts preferred" that's soooo tacky in my opinion!

Babies R us has the check box option for it so it doesn't look as deliberate 😊 I don't think it's rude but I wouldn't specify it in the invitations.

For target it automatically asked if I wanted to include a gift card option. So at the top when someone views my registry the first thing is a gift card.

We checked the gift card box on our registry and I think my MIL who threw the shower put the registry and gift cards as an option. We didn't put a whole lot on our registry so we got a good bit of gift cards. And any doubles or stuff we didn't need we exchanged and it all worked out! I'm not one that likes a lot of junk either, I never tell people to get him toys because he's already gotten so many already and hardly plays with most of them

Amazon, babies r us and Walmart gave me an option for asking for gift cards and I selected it. And if anyone gets you something you don't want/like/ need then return it (unless it's from someone that'll ask where it's at when they don't see the "super cute" outfit on the baby lol then I suggest keeping it).

Yes you can put gift cards on your registry most people do, you don't have to keep anything you don't like, that's what returns are for.
