Has anyone ever done this? If so what do the lines look like if it's positive?

Yes, I have used OPKs. A positive test will show a test line as dark or darker than the control line. A positive test means you should ovuluate in the next 12-24 hours. If the test line is lighter than the control, it is a negative.
