Recommendations on car seat??

So, I'm trying to pick the car seat I want but am having such a hard time, I was going to go with the maxi cosi (that's the brand my toddler has and I just love the brand) however I'm thinking is it really worth the money when they will only be in it for 6 months and then I have to buy a new car seat? So now, I'm thinking in getting a travel system instead but can't figure out which car seat is a good one? I'm not good with brands cuz I've only ever tried one kind any suggestions on some good infant car seats? Or travel systems ..?
