thermometer for newborn?

What brand and type should I get??
I won a Withings no touch forehead reader, but I think I want something different for the age she is now. It's great for my husband and me, but my baby is 2 months and I don't think it's accurate on her.
I have nowhere to even begin.
Digital or analog?
Rectal, ear, forehead, mouth?
Help!

You're supposed to use rectal. I'd get a digital and make sure you have Vaseline or lube on hand in case you need to take baby's temp. We were gifted an ear thermometer. Our Pefdi said to use a rectal thermometer; books and websites suggest the same.

As a pediatric ER nurse, rectal temp ONLY until 2 years of age. The head scanners are not accurate. The ear ones are not accurate. Next best thing would be armpit temps.

I just use the saftey first from target and goes under the armpit comes with a pouch and is flexible at the tip

I was gifted a forehead thermometer and took my babies temperature and it came up 100.8 and he had cold symptoms. I called the nurses line and she said to go to the ER because 100.4 was considered a fever for his age. I went in they did a rectal temp....along with a blood sample, chest x-ray, and cathader for a urine sample. I felt so bad! It wasn't until the end of all the exams that they told me the rectal temperature showed no fever and that rectal was the most accurate. All the exams came back great and they just told me to keep an eye on him. I'm getting a rectal one and will check with the forehead scanner first and if there's a fever I'll double check with rectal. My poor guy went through all that for nothing 🙁

I just had my baby three days ago and they said at home to check rectally. That it's the most accurate. Here they've checked under her arm pits and one time it was warm but they checked her rectally and it was fine. Doc says rectally trumps everything

I just have flexible tip digital. My ped said definitely rectal for this age. He had his shots and felt hot. I tried Axillary and it was 97 but rectal was 101

I would like to get the stick on patches that will read out a temperature!  Other than that I use a mouth thermometer  under arm and a digital one that goes across their temple!
