Our Journey/ HSG advice?

I have been off birth control for almost a year now. My husband and I have been actively trying to get pregnant since last October. After getting off birth control I have gained almost 30lbs, and have had VERY irregular periods. My doctor diagnosed me with having PCOS by my symptoms and an ultrasound. I'm having a lot of lab work done and my husband is being tested as well. Next step is an HSG test, then starting Clomid pending HSG results. 
I'm nervous for what's to come and just trying to stay positive. Looking for advice/ similar experiences to mine. 
Do they let someone go in with you for the HSG test?

I was not allowed to have anyone with me for the HSG, which was super difficult as I was really scared. I suggest asking them if they can give you Valium to take beforehand if you are nervous, and if they are able to numb your cervix. Good news about getting an HSG is that it sometimes clears everything out, often making you more fertile after getting it done!

I went alone to do it. I don't know if it's related, but I didn't have anything blocking and didn't hurt much. I took 2 ibuprofen 2 hours before. When they were inserting the cannula I did some breathing exercises to help out and I think it really did. I also tried to relax as much as possible, like as if I was going to pee hahaha try not to worry so much. Some girls feel pain on this, but many others don't. Good luck and don't forget to BD same night if you're not in pain 😊

Pretty sure you can't have anyone with you. I didn't even ask for my husband to come. He waited in the waiting room. It only takes a few minutes and was so simple! It doesn't hurt a little but it's more pressure than anything. Any other questions just ask!

I would love to know more about the  hsg test as well. That is my next step also
