Birth stories without an epidural?

Hi ladies, I'm a ftm and hoping I am able to give birth without an epidural when the time comes. I'm more than open to it being an option should the pain be too much for me, but I've been told I have a pretty high pain threshold by those who've seen me in a lot of pain (miscarriage, broken bones, kidney infections) and just think it would be such an incredible and empowering experience if I can do it without an epidural.

So I was just wanting to hear about your experiences if you had an epidural-free or completely natural birth? Or if you had planned for it to go that way but things turned out differently?

I was in labor for 14 hours before I even got pregnant I was set on NOT having an epidural unless I had to for any crazy reason
So once I got pregnant I just continued to tell myself all natural 
Then I finally went Into labor and perhaps I just anticipated it being the worst pain I have ever felt but honestly labor and delivery wasn't as bad as I expected and I didn't get the epidural

For the aftermath and recovery though some morphine would be great that's where it really hurts

Once you are in the zone though pushing you can get through it!! Just gotta keep telling yourself you can!

This is what really helped me: morning of I called my sister then she sent some encouraging words to me telling me to be prepared to feel the urge to poop something the size of Florida and that's all I could think about while pushing and it made me laugh!! Maybe this will help you too gotta laugh through the pain!!

I've had 3 kids all 3 I did completely none medicated no pain relief what so ever :). All deliveries were fine and had no tears after no complications and no stitches required :). I'm on baby number 4 now and hoping it'll be the same way for her delivery. Xx

I did it twice. First baby was 40 hours, three of those pushing, and a forceps aided delivery (I might ha e considered meds for the forceps but at that point I was so exhausted and focused on the baby coming out, it didn't even occurr me to ask, lol). 3rd degree tear.

Second was 17 hours, with less than 30 minutes of pushing.

With both I labored in a birthing tub once I reached 5 cm (HIGHLY recommend it). With the first I had to get out because there was meconium when my water broke, but my second was born in the water. The first I delivered on my back (forceps required it) but the second I was kneeling and leaning over with my hands on the edge of the tub for support...I felt that position helped me push sooooooo much better.

Have a good support team. I always new I wanted to go unmedicated again after my first, but apparently I was a bit more scarred of having a repeat 40 hours again so at one point when it seemed things were stalling I told my midwife I was open to just having a c-section and getting this baby OUT! Fortunately she and the nurse were able to talk me down from that proverbial ledge, and he was born less than 2 hours later.

I watched this video in youtube that gave me confidence that i can do it without one.

You can watch it and honestly I just think about this baby is gonna come out and after the baby is out. The tears will just come out instead of pain and anger.
