What is the "best" age gap between children?

Mine will be just over 3 years apart, I'm not sure if it'll be a good gap or not, but we'll see. Everyone says 2-3 is ideal.

I have a 4 year gap between no.1 & no.2 and it's hard. You forget what to do with a newborn, and whilst my eldest wanted to help with his sister, they aren't close.

No.3 came 11 months after no.2 and was easier than I expected.

No.4 came 14 months after no.3. I've also found this to be a good gap as 3&4 are really close and into the same things- they are almost like twins.

Having the 3 in 25 months was hard going, but now they are 2, 3 and 4 it's much easier. My eldest sometimes feels left out though as being 4 years older, he doesn't want to do the same things as the others and doesn't have the same group of friends. The 4 year gap wasn't intentional- I had a mmc when he was 2. I'd recommend a smaller age gap to anyone, though maybe not quite as close as mine! Lol I think around 18 months would be a good gap.

19 months between 1 & 2
27 months between 2 & 3
12 months between 3 & 4
24 months between 4 & 5

My 12 month gap is easiest as far as their relationship goes. 27 months was best as far as me being a parent to multiple kiddos.

My older three siblings are 1-2 years apart, and they're all really close. I am five years younger than my closest brother, and I never got to really have the same bond as the rest of them.

Me and my brother are 5 years and I wish it was shorter cause we were pretty much never in school together. Would be nice 2-3
