Dilation?

When did you start getting checked for dilation? How many weeks were you?
 
I'm reading about a lot of you ladies knowing how dilated you are but I still haven't been checked - maybe because it's still very early for me... I'm 34.4W

Mine don't check me AT ALL. It's kind of annoying. They don't check until you're literally there giving birth.

34 weeks but only because I went into the hospital for contractions the day prior. My doctor wants to make sure my cervix behaves until I'm term. I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow

I started getting checked at 32 weeks Cuz I'm high risk but usually they don't start til 36 weeks...I've been at a damn 1cm since then I'm 37 weeks already 😣😣

I had mine checked today at 36 weeks. She said it was up to me. I am dilated 1 1/2 cm and 70% effaced.

Mine gave me the option to be checked today at 35 weeks, I told him no because it's still early and didn't want to hear if I wasn't 🙈 but he said next week he will check for sure.

I was told at my last appointment that they don't start checking for dilation until 39 weeks unless I'm showing signs of labor prior to that.

My OB doesn't check for dilation as part of routine care. I'm 37 weeks and haven't had a pelvic exam since my first visit at 10 weeks. It can be fun to know you're dilating, but it doesn't really mean anything in terms of labor starting or not.

You can check yourself. There are plenty of good tutorials online.

I was checked at 34 weeks due to contractions. But I'm 37+5 today and it's the first time my doctor would check me unless I had consistent contractions. Checking for dilation can sometimes cause early labor so a lot of drs won't unless necessary. Really no need to until your 38+ weeks.
