Or like legal guardians in the event that something unfortunate happens?
Who did you pick and how did you pick them?
I am trying to explain the importance of having this worked out to my husband but I'm not sure he sees a reason for it. Emotional stories don't work on him either- that was my approach 🙄

Yes. For the same reason I insured my home and car and life. It's a form of insurance for your children to ensure their life continues if god forbid something happens to you.

Yep! We have two people in min who we would love to have custody of my baby boy if we pass suddenly. They're both our guy best friends - which has made it hard for our custody agreement 😂 - but I trust them with my son's life. So, when my fiance and I get married, we plan on making a joint will, and putting them both as legal guardians with a shared custody agreement - one, who works at a hospital, during the school year, and the other - a Marine - during the summer if not deployed.

No we didn't pick God parents but my sister and her husband are the two we would have my daughter live with if anything happened.

If you don't want them going to your grandparents or don't want a custody fight between grandparents then it's important to legally assign someone else. We also have all of our assets in a trust to secure them for our child (and future children) so our property wouldn't need to go through the court system in the event of our deaths. 
Emotion isn't necessary. Things happen, people die, and when that happens, you can have your child taken care of in the manner you would want or you can have zero control over it. that's all the reason he shook need to discuss this with you.

Not really. It's a struggle because we want people who are financially secure, mentally stable, and part of baby's family. Nobody fits the bill.
