co-worker suspected of having measles 😱
So, I found out today that one of my co-workers is suspected of having measles... Luckily they're off work today and getting tested, but I'm still freaking out.
I had the MMR vaccine as a child, but that was back in the UK, and I have no idea if it covers the form of the virus in India. So, now I'm freaking out that I may have been exposed to it... I'm working from home today for other reasons, but talking with my manager about potentially staying away from the office until we know there's not an outbreak.
And no, I can't have a booster vaccine at the moment, as it's a live vaccine which you cannot have during pregnancy...
I'm so annoyed though! Measles during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, still birth or premature birth, and it is incredibly contagious. Yet people still avoid it, because of some stupid, disproven article from a few years back! 😤

UPDATE: spoke to my doctor, and she says that I need to work from home until my colleague is proven not to have measles, or the risk of outbreak is gone... Even with a vaccination, the risk is still there if a large portion of my office is still unvaccinated 😫 Herd Immunity! It's needed to 👏keep 👏EVERYONE 👏safe!

Yep, coworker definitely has the Measles :( so now I'm stuck at home for at least the next 2 weeks, or longer if more people get it. At least I can work from home...
