period while on active pills?

i started taking birth control about 1.5 weeks ago. on monday i lost my pills and i usually take it at 8:30am but i had to buy a new pack so i just ended up taking the pill at around 4:30. today i had extremely bad cramping and i started my period but its mostly dark brown blood with little red. im only like 11 days into the active pills should i keep taking them since my period started or stop??
