How to ask your doctor to check for a rare illness?

I Have extreme itching on my chest arms back sometimes my thighs and random other areas. 
I know itching is a normal symptom of pregnancy, but theres no way this is normal! 
So I googled it (big mistake I know!) turns out I have a lot of the symptoms for Icp (something to do with bile acid and your liver) it can cause the baby to be still born. 
I am taking zofran for my nausea, however nausea is a symptom of icp, so is lack of appetite and not eating - I've lost 20lb since I found out I was pregnant. I'm only 15 weeks and symptoms usually start towards the end of the 2nd trimester however can start as early as 8 weeks.. I'd need a blood test to make sure my bile acid levels are normal but how do I ask for this test? I've never liked going to the doctors and although my midwife is lovely I don't have the courage to bring it up... 
How did you ask your midwifes and doctors to do tests on your for unlikely illnesses?

Cholastasis is a pregnancy condition and not rare at all. It can be mild to severe. If severe imediate delivery of baby is needed in a hospital setting. I had it severe life threatening and had my son delivered via emergency csection 29th dec. you need a bloodtest to confirm and urine test. Its not something to ignore get to your doctors !!

Call them and tell them!!! I had severe itching and mentioned it at my 38 week appt two days later and the next day after my appt I was sent to be induced because of it. Please please call your doctor and they will get you in. I had what's called Cholestasis of Pregnancy. Idk if that's exactly how it's spelled or not but you get the gist.

Just outright ask them, it's one of those "don't ask, don't get" situations. If your babies life is at risk you just have to "man up" and ask!

I had that. Just go to your doctor and tell them how itchy you are. I was itching to the point that I was bleeding so they prescribed me a medicine that put me to sleep at night so I wouldn't itch.

Just call them up and explain your extreme itchiness and they will test. Simple as that. I had extreme itching and I was breaking out in a rash, I was only 6 weeks and they checked me to be on the safe side. I'm now 9 weeks and my itching has stopped and rash has disappeared.

It does not matter what the doctor or midwife think of you. If you feel like you have a condition that could put you or your baby's life at risk, you NEED to say something. 
This isn't just about you anymore. You're not just in charge of your own health, you're in charge of the health of an entire other human being.
Speak up, yell it, take their time, be an inconvenience if you need to, ask the questions you need answered, do what you need to do to be the best parent possible. Your responsibility starts now.
