College?

So this could be a total shot in the dark but I was wondering if any of you ladies attended any of the Johnson and Wales campuses. If so I was wondering which one, what major, and what your thoughts were. I'm attending providence in the fall for baking and pastry arts and finding firsthand opinions is extremely difficult

My sister went there for hotel and restaurant management and her husband went there for culinary arts. They stayed in Rhode Island for a good 18 or more years before just moving back to their hometown last year to open up a cafe. Her husband is a VERY good chef, but my sister did not really end up using her degree in Rhode Island (she spends most of her time raising my neices and she found her real passion was in pastry and cakes). She actually wishes she would have gone to a local college for her degree before finding out it wasn't what she wanted and hadn't dished out so much money. Make sure it is EXACTLY what you want to do before committing to the tuition because it isn't cheap. If there is a community college that offers your major, that may be something to consider so you're not left with major loan debt.

thank you! tuition right now is about 30k per year, and it's a four year program. I visited the campus and it was gorgeous

That's awesome! As long as you're sure I'd say go for it. They loved living in RI. They also went to school many years ago so programs/tuition has probably changed.

it definitely it what I want to do. the program I'm in is called early enrollment for high school juniors who can essentially "skip" senior year to start college early. the program actually offers half of your tuition waived freshman year, as well as any academic scholarships they offer you specifically (mine was 10k). I'm excited for the program but I do enjoy hearing other stories and opinions!
