nap training?

Has anyone done nap training?  My LO takes cat naps and has to be nursed to sleep and held for every nap.  He won't let me put him down except the first nap.   Any advice on how to train him to nap on his own and for longer?

I got my son to nap by napping with him, even if I just laid there for a while, that made it easier for him. And he now is a lot better and takes long naps.

My daughter was only cat napping in my arms until last week. Now she naps in her crib, with each nap lasting 40 minutes​ or so. I read the book the Sleep Sense Program. It has helped so far.

During the first few days it took up to 30 minutes to go down, but now it takes only 5 minutes or so. I'm not following the program perfectly (it says to put baby in the crib with their eyes open, and currently I bounce/cuddle with her until she is calm and here eyes are closed, then lay her down). I had a few very frustrating​ days where I was close to tears, but pushing through them has really paid off.

It also includes the pick up put down method. You lay baby down in the crib, if they cry pick them up and confort them until they calm down, then lay them back down. Continue this until they no longer cry. (I've had to pick my daughter up 8 or so times but eventually she calmed down).

Does anyone swaddle their baby for nap time? Josiah will only nap in his swing now, but 3 weeks ago he would nap in his crib. Not for long, but long enough. I guess we should be starting to wean him from swaddling even at night, but two 15 minute naps don't seem like enough.

We nap our girl in the swing with the speed and sound up. I can lay her down awake after I see her yawn once or twice and she will fuss for about 15 minutes before she puts herself to sleep. Now I'm weining her of the speed so she can nap in her crib. It all depends on what works for your family.

I've started to rock to sleep so sleep time is sleep time and feeding time is feeding time but still have to hold her. Luckily she's still little but it can't go on for much longer!
