First month of Nexplanon... No period?

Question

Hey everyone,

So I was on birth control pills, with a regular period every month, and had the Nexplanon implant inserted on the second day of my period in March. I'm aware that Nexplanon can stop your period, which is exciting because no one wants a period really, but also worrisome because I won't have that monthly reminder that I'm not pregnant. I've heard people complaining about irregular spotting, but haven't experienced that either.

I should've started my period last evening, and I always have while on the pills, but haven't yet...

I know I shouldn't be worried since Nexplanon is extremely effective with less than 1% of users becoming pregnant, but nevertheless I'm a little stressed! No symptoms though, and no symptoms of my period either.

I know it's very early and I may still start, but was wondering how many months it took for any of you to stop having your period on Nexplanon? Or did you ever?

Update: I took a test just to make sure, and I'm definitely not pregnant! But I found the responses to this post to be super helpful and great stress relievers, so I'm sure other nexplanon users would love to see your responses, too!

This is so funny, I literally just posted almost the same thing about a week ago. I got mine in in February and it looks like I'm just not going to get periods as I'm 10 days late so far. I tested twice and both were negative so I'm pretty sure I'm fine, but it's definitely a bit disconcerting when you're trained your whole life to think that being late is the worst, and then you're habitually late.

I got my Nexplanon put in for the first time in 2009, and have gotten it removed/replaced since then in 2012 & 2015 and will be getting it removed permanently next January (only to start a family). Since then I have been with the same partner (a guy) and we have had sex regularly using ONLY my birth control for protection. This is obviously not a practice I would recommend, but for the sake of the anecdote- we have never even had a pregnancy scare. My periods started to become irregular with my second rod (2012) and by 2014 they were completely gone. However, by my third rod (2015) I started to get week-long periods again although the cycle was significantly longer than before (before 3-4 weeks, now about 6-8 weeks), which is actually why I downloaded this app, so I could try to find some rhyme or reason because they honestly felt so crazy.

I would say don't worry about your monthly reminder. If you are that concerned however, keep some pregnancy tests in hand for when you want to make sure, and at the very least double down with condoms (female condoms are great too if you're not as worried about STI's) to help with protection. :)

I had mine put in last November and have only had one period since - end of november. They tell you to use condoms for the first week you have it in to be safe but it's extremely rare to get pregnant on the implant.

I got mine in two days ago on period day number 3, I usually have 5 days of light/moderate bleeding. Well I completely stopped bleeding later that same day I got the implant. I was on pills before implant. I also had the iud & didn't have much of a period. Hope this works the same

I went months without having a period and I had the implanon implant before having the nexplon. I've never messed with the pill. But No spotting or anything. About a year later I started having periods again. Even if I had a pregnancy scare, I'd take a test (which would always be negative) for peace of mind and always end up starting the next day. Enjoy the lack of periods while it lasts dear 😘

So far I haven't stopped. It's much lighter than when I wasn't on it, but it's not stopped!
