Anyone here against doing IVF?

I've read a couple posts that some people are against doing IVF. Just curious on your reasons why you would be against it aside from cost obviously.

I was a nanny for 12 years and every child I cared for was conceived through IVF. I feel like it's hard to judge it until you are in the position of not being able to conceive. People love people who were born of IVF

Personally, I'm morally opposed to IVF. I believe that life begins at conception, and that from that point on a distinct human being exists, and that the human has inherent dignity. Science tells me that an embryo already has its own unique DNA and cell composition, so I don't think it is any less valuable simply because it's not as far along in the maturation process.

Because IVF is so rarely successful, many embryos are created to "optimize" the chances of a successful pregnancy. But only the embryos that are the most promising are implanted in the womb...the rest are either destroyed, left frozen in a lab somewhere, or used for medical research. And if more embryos are successfully implanted than the parents want, additional embryos are selectively destroyed.

So, that's it in a nutshell. I hope I answered your question! I believe that every human being, from the moment of conception, has intrinsic value. IVF destroys the vast majority of embryos created in the process. Therefore, I can't reconcile the procedure with my personal beliefs. I think the Catholic Church has a similar stance, so maybe someone who is Catholic could give you another perspective. For me, it's something I decided in the last couple years after doing a research project on assisted reproductive technology more generally. Sorry this was so long, I definitely understand the curiosity!

I'm not against it but I've heard people say it's "playing god". Other than that honestly I'm curious too why people are against it

Having a family in the future is super super important to me i want a lot of kids. I know that i base a lot of my self worth on my ability to reproduce. Personally if i werent able to get pregnant adoption & surrogacy & IVF wouldnt be options
