nursing to fall asleep?!

Our LO will be 10 weeks in a few days. She screams and fights to fall asleep unless I nurse her. She takes a pacifier every other time she is fussy but when she is fighting sleep she only wants to nurse. How do I break her away from this? I understand comfort nursing but for those of you who had to go back to work and LO has gone to day care, how did you get them to adjust or did it take some time at day care? I go back to work in 3 weeks and have serious anxiety about this. Listening to her cry when my husband tries to get her to sleep kills me and I know he feels useless and frustrated.

Basically, it talks about how nursing to sleep and comfort nursing are totally normal and healthy, and that you won't have to worry about when you bring your baby to daycare. I worked in an infant room at a daycare, and I can promise you that your baby's caregiver will develop a trusting relationship with your baby and your baby will be able to sleep there. I took care of breastfed babies, and I never had any issues getting them to sleep.

I get so frustrated with all of the articles I read discouraging nursing to sleep. My son is 6 months old and I still nurse him to sleep. It feels so natural to me, and it is so relaxing for both me and my son. How can something so natural possibly be wrong?

I nurse to sleep, calm and comfort. When he has his vaccinations or doesn't feel well, comfort nursing is a godsend. And in daycare and sleeps like a dream. They have cribs on wheels and they rock the babies to sleep that way.

When you're not there, your LO won't look to nurse and will probably sleep just fine. I worried about this all the time before going back because he'd only nurse to sleep, and only sleep on me and not in the crib. Now, he's napping in his crib for me and sleeps great at daycare, for my mom (she watches him once a week) and for my husband. Goes down better for them than me actually! It'll be fine, trust me! Daycare has actually helped improve his naps at home.

I got to a certain point during my leave when I was just at my wits end that he wouldn't take a nap in his crib for me and I just decided that I can either waste the weeks I have home with him stressing about it and worrying, or giving into it and snuggling with my baby all day. I chose to relax and enjoy my baby. And I'm so glad I did.

Nursing to sleep is normal and you shouldn't worry about this. She probably cries more with your husband because you're there as well. My baby was this way with daddy as well. She's getting around to falling asleep with him now. She did fine with sitters, though.
