Side sleeping newborns?

My 3 week old only sleeps soundly on his side. He breathes funny while flat on his back and has bad reflux, and startles himself awake.  I do get nervous about putting him to sleep on his side that I hardly get sleep at night because I'm constantly checking on him. But it's the only way he actually sleeps longer than 30 minutes .  Anyone else's baby a side sleeper as well?

Talk to your pediatrician and they will likely set your mind at ease or give you an alternative suggestion. Reflux babies need special sleeping (i.e., back might not be best).

Mine sleeps on side and has reflux too. She also startles herself awake but I wrap her in a snuggle so her arms are at her side otherwise I don't think she would sleep alone

Yes my 3 week old will only sleep on her side . If I put her on her back she finds a way to get on her side lol

My pediatrician told me it was totally fine. When my guy is in the bassinet (which he hates) he rolls to his side to sleep, I guess it's more comforting for him? Doctor told me it's normal that some babies do that and he isn't strong enough yet to turn himself all the way over. But talk to your pediatrician to put yourself at ease!

My son has severe reflux as well. We have been using a crib wedge to elevate the head of his bed. He was a preemie so we spent some time in the NICU and the nurses said not to ever place him on his side but if he naturally rolls that direction to leave him be and it's just fun. He almost always rolls to the left :)

My sons doctor said "make sure he's sleeping on his back or side." I didn't even think anything about asking him about it cause my son ends up wanting to sleep on his side all the time.

I'm glad to hear I'm not being neglectful by letting him Sleep on his side. I feel as the studies may be true about back to sleep being the safest, I have a hard time not letting certain studies and what not freak me out when I don't do it how it's suggested to

Mine loves to sleep on her right side. She had some problems with spitting up at first and her pediatrician recommended letting her sleep on her side and propping her bed up.
