Our girl came in a fast and furious manner on March 24
Our girl came in a fast and furious manner on March 24. I was induced due to hyperemesis gravidarum and had my water broken at 8:30 that morning. I laboured for 2 hours on my own but wasn't progressing so they started pitocin. My contractions still weren't dilating me any more so they kept turning up my pit every 30 minutes. After about 3 hours on the pitocin my contractions were so strong I couldn't move through them so I elected to get the epidural. I felt great after that and was able to get some rest. I sent my husband home to have a nap and let the dog out before I fell asleep as we were told we would probably be in labour for at least another 12 hours or so. When I woke up they checked me and said that baby's head was in the wrong position so it wasn't pressing on my cervix and I was still stuck at 3cm and my contractions on the monitor were irregular so they turned my pitocin up again. I got up to pee and when I got back in bed I started feeling some pressure which I assumed was from the contractions getting stronger. My nurse went to check me pad and it was covered in blood so she checked me again and I was 10 cm and she could see baby's head. I could feel pressure with every contraction so she said we should do some practice pushes but that I would probably have to push for a long time because baby's head was still in the wrong position. After 3 pushes she told me to stop as baby was coming fast! She paged the doctor for delivery and kept checking me, every time I had a contraction baby would come more even though I wasn't pushing. The doctor and my husband got to the room just in time. I pushed for 3 more contractions and our 7lb 10oz baby girl Claire Barbara was born. I ruptured during delivery and lost alot of blood, my HR sky rocketed and my blood pressure dropped and I passed out. I also tore and needed a lot of stitches and can hardly move but she was worth it! Here we are having our first snuggle.
