I have a lot of silver jewelry and I love it, but I have to rub it with a jewelry cloth every once in a while since it tarnishes. I've never experienced it turning my skin green, as others have mentioned, but the silver itself turns kinda bronze or black. The green skin thing only happens to some people depending on the acids in their skin and their bodies reaction to the metal. Gold does this to some people as well. If I were you, I'd get a small piece of cheaper silver jewelry to try it out with your skin.
If you're looking at rings (specifically engagement/wedding) I'd go for platinum. I love my platinum ring because it looks similar to silver, but it doesn't tarnish or irritate skin. Also, platinum is strong, so the prongs prevent your diamond from getting loose. I still recommend having your ring checked by your jeweler every year, regardless of the metal, but it gives me peace of mind.

Sterling silver is basically all I can wear other than surgeons steel. I'm allergic to pretty much all other metals. And in my opinion it's prettier than gold. Gold looks like piss to me haha. Idk why . I like the more pure look.

Sterling silver for what? If your talking about jewelry then hell no, it sucks. Turns green and always hurt me and I had a lot of infections. White gold is the best. Little pricey but worth it.
