natural miscarriage?

I had a natural miscarriage at 15 weeks. I was at the hospital when I passed the baby, and the on call OB had to get tongs and pull out the placenta. He said that he thought it was all out but to follow up with my doc. Went today and had an ultrasound and he said that appears that everything is out but "naturally my lining was thickened." I've read so many stories about people needing a D/C later on down the road because they couldn't conceive or had an infection, and I'm worried that will be the case. Has anyone else had a natural late miscarriage that didn't require a D/C and everything turned out okay?
