Lotus birth?!

I recently came across information about a lotus birth and I personally would love to hear some personal experiences! I'm considering it but of course I want to make sure I have done my research first! Anyone else curious?!

Oh my GOD not in a million years would I keep a rotting organ attached to my child. That's horrifying. There are no provable benefits to it, and I think it just takes "crunchy" too far.

I chose delayed cord clamping but not a lotus birth. I have a friend who did it though and she loves it, it honestly kept the visitors away because the placenta smelled funky even with all the herbs her midwife put on it

What is there to understand? You leave a dead, bloody sac attatched to your newborn child... A PERFECT breeding ground for all kinds of disgusting bacteria... attatched to your child, who has no immune system to speak of. Yes, you wipe it off, and rub sea salt and lavender on it, but it is still a dead piece of flesh with zero circulation, and lots of moisture. Many women justify this by saying that's what tribal women did. Well, check out the infant mortality rates in those areas, and "back in the day" when this practice was fairly common. The only benefit is making yourself look like the super special "naturalist mommy." It's actually pretty ridiculous.

I just saw a woman on FB talk about her experience. At this moment, I'm all for it. I'm doing some research on it and I also want to hear from people who actually know what it is and the ones who had one. It's beautiful and I'll just keep doing more research on it. I'm just 2months pregnant, so I have time.

This has to be the most unnatural and risky things I've ever heard.
It is NOT natural it goes against our natural instincts, there is not a single placental mammal on the planet that leaves it on! They chew it off immediately. The fact that all placental mammals remove it at birth should be enough evidence in itself.
Once the placenta is detached the blood coagulates from that moment onwards, there is no magical nutrient travel happening thereafter that defies basic logic.
The only thing this does is put the baby at risk of blood poisoning.
Anything you read as research on this is not peer reviewed. 
Don't believe everything you read on these ridiculous websites.
For those ladies who are considering this please do your research thoroughly and read all opposing studies.
At the end of the day it's your baby and your choice.

I'm planning on delayed cord clamping, waiting until the cord is white and no longer pulsing for sure! However leaving the placenta attached is just a bit too much for me. I don't really see any benefits to it seeing as once the cord stops pulsing no more blood is getting to baby and the placenta isn't attached to you anymore so it's function is gone and it's use is finished. Baby's body is filtering, excrementing, and getting nutrition from either you or formula so the placenta is done!
