Vasectomy VS Tube tying?

I've got this lovely little arm implant that I adore. Granted, my bleeds are random but to be honest, I would much rather bleed than be pregnant again. It's terrifying to think about. I love my little lady Leah and I would do it all over again if it meant having her. However, after being pregnant, I became more pro choice than I already was (if that's even possible). I couldn't force another woman to go through that if she knew she wasn't ready to.

My husband and I have three (or maybe two and a half...) years left till my arm plant needs to be replaced. Honestly, this whole health care thing is terrifying. We've come to the conclusion that we like that our family is little and we like that all we have is Leah. We are happy as we are. My husband has offered to do a vasectomy and I've offered to have my tubes tied. The issue is is that my doctor will not do this till I'm 35 or have a crap ton of kids. Ugh.

What would you do? Would you tell your husband to go ahead with the vasectomy when you get off birth control? Or would you rather have your tubes tied? Have you had it before? Opinions on both??

Not to be rude, but please don't take it upon yourself to give me a lecture about how we might change our mind. We get that. If it ever came to that I'd rather adopt than go through all of that misery again.

So my mom has worked at an obgyn office for a number of years (over 10 years) and she told me she doesn't recommend getting tubes tied because 1. It's not reversible and 2. The periods afterwards can be awful. Super heavy bleeding and cramping like never before. Vesectomy is reversible and less detrimental on a man's health. Also, there's other procedures women can have done to stop heavy periods and stuff but those aren't recommended either. I would just research and get a few medical professional's opinions before making a decision :)

When the time comes, whatever you decide (i.e. stick with just one child), I would definitely go with the vasectomy. It's simple, recovery time is faster, and has a higher success rate of reversibility (hopefully you don't change your mind though!). Men moan about it, but it's easier for them to go through a quick snip - and you already gave the gift of YOUR body for pregnancy and delivery!

I'm allergic to birth control and can't take it for more than 5 months at a time, so rather than risking getting pregnant again my SO will be getting a vasectomy. I did offer to get my tubes tied or blocked, but it seems to be a bigger procedure than my SO getting snipped. My SO has several friends that have had a vasectomy, and they all recommend it, which is probably why he's so willing to do it.

I would go with the Vasectomy. It's an easy thing and can be reversed if necessary (a tubal reversal is a lot harder and less successful).. my husband had a Vasectomy and said it was no big deal. (But he did got it reversed a few months ago, and that was honestly not that big of a deal either.)

I would take your doctors advice and just continue with the birth control and reassess in 5-10 years about the vasectomy and tied tubes. You never know what could change ☺

I knew a lady who had her tubes tied and one of them re-grew and she got pregnant! Now she has 4 kids instead of 3! I'm sure that's rare, but knowing someone who it happened to, I'd probably lean more towards a vasectomy!
