When to stop giving your baby a pacifier

With pacifiers now age specific, this is much less of a big deal than it used to be. They are more in keeping with orthodontic health than they used to be.

My first wasn't a binki baby so it was a non concern 
My second LOVED his. At 18 months we told him only in bed. Sometimes he'd go lay in his bed just to have it. Fine by me. Eventually he was good with just naps and bedtime. Then we took away naptime binki at age 2. Bedtime binki at 2.5.

My concern is just that he learned to speak well and I didn't see the reason he would have it in all day. Aside from that, this was his comfort item. It made him happy. In truth he would put it in to fall asleep and spit it out right after so he wasn't even issuing it during the night. When we took it away completely I gave him 2 weeks notice. I circled the day on the calendar and counted down to days without binkis. We made a big deal out of being a big boy. We bought him a big boy toy when we took it away because he was so big. We never ever had an issue. He got it.

My third is 1 and loves his binki too. I'll try to follow similar protocol with him
