Did you quit your job to focus on your children?

Question

I quit my nursing job of taking care of newborns to take care of my own. It's what I always wanted to do.

I'm thinking about getting out of my career as a police officer now that I have a baby on the way. I wasn't planning on having kids, but it kind of just happened. It's too dangerous to leave my baby everyday not knowing if I'll come home or not. I'm thinking about getting into the medical field. Nuclear medicine tech.

I'm a nurse too an actually never wanted to be a stay at home mom, now I can't imagine going back to my job until my kids are older. I love being home with them!

Yes because child care is beyond expensive here where I live. If I had worked I'd be paying for someone else to take care of my children. We did have a baby sitter but she was making 8$ an hour working five days a week....It was a lot of money in a short time. So I stay home with my 1 year old and 2 month old.

I'm super conflicted at the moment.  I actually like my job. But I also want to be a stay at home mom for my baby.  Day care cost is high also.

Husband and I decided that it wouldn't benefit us if I quit my job as I'm the one that carries our benefits.(he makes more but doesn't have any type of benefits since it's a small company) We have had our son in daycare since 2.5 months and he loves it. The cost is crazy but it works for us and he can grow up and have friends with kids that he'll be in school with.

When I left my job we did not set a return date. It is a job that is in high demand so they filled my position but will always need more (I'm an addiction counselor). My son is 4 months old and I haven't gone back yet. I don't want him in daycare until he can at least sit up. The thought of him just laying there makes me sad. I am honestly not sure if I will go back though. We have adjusted our budget to make it work on my husbands salary. It's a little tight but we make it work.

Yes I did. I had a crummy night shift cashier position at our local Walmart and when I told management that I was pregnant, I felt I wasn't treated appropriately. They refused to let me work away from where they were waxing floors (the fumes are so strong and unsafe!), and ended up firing me for calling in sick too many times (all day sickness and dizziness were bad my first trimester). My boyfriend works and makes just enough to support us on his own while I stay home with our now 8 month old daughter. I couldn't imagine leaving her to go back to work. I give all other working mamas mad props on what they do.

I worked an hour away from home and in an area we're day care cost combined with the gas cost would be more then if I just stayed home. I miss my job and independents but really love seeing ever little moment of my LO growth.
