FTM, labor and delivery of my dreams

Ashley
Here is my birth story! My due date was March 31. On Thursday evening (March 30), I had pretty consistent, moderate pain cramps starting at 9pm, 4 minutes apart. They didn't feel super strong, but I called my Dr around 11:45pm to ask her opinion since it had been a few hours. She advised me to try to get some rest and once I couldn't sleep through them, to go in.
At 12am, I was getting ready to climb into bed and needed to plug in my Phone charger. When I bent over, I heard a pop and felt like I peed my pants! I rushed to the bathroom and saw my mucus plug had come out in addition to my water breaking. I didn't even realize this could happen at the same tim! Also - who's water breaks at midnight on their due date? So funny!
Contractions got very intense as soon as my water broke. I debated laboring at home a little because I've heard to not rush in when your water breaks. The pain was so strong and 3 min apart we decided to hop to it ASAP.
We got to the hospital around 1am. I wanted an epidural ASAP. The contractions felt very intense and I was 5cm dilated. Got the epidural and felt so much better! My husband and I were even able to get some rest for a few hours. I was fully dilated by 9:30am. We started pushing and Ruby was here by 11:47 am weighing 8lb 5oz. I only needed one small stitch!
First time mom, 12 hr labor to meeting my Baby - I'll take it! Loving every minute so far ❤️
Side Note: I ate 6 dates a day the last month and had raspberry leaf tea everyday. My Dr was impressed with how thin my cervix was and I attribute it to just that! It didn't induce labor but I truly believe it made things move quicker/easier.
