When to tell employer?

This is my first pregnancy so I am having a hard time figuring out when to tell people (I decided to wait until week 12 for most). My employer thankfully provides maternity leave, but I'm not sure how early I should be telling them. I'm 8 wks 4 days today - any suggestions??

I told my boss right away. I work on the phone all day. So if I'm needing to get off the phone a lot to run to the bathroom a lot someone has to know why. I probably won't tell my HR until 12 weeks. 
We're telling our family's and most of our friends after our first ultrasound at 8+4. 
Doing a public announcement at either 11 weeks or 12+1 (11 weeks would be our anniversary, 12+1 would be Mother's Day)

I'm not telling mine until I start to show and can't hind it anymore. We lost our daughter at 14.6 weeks when we thought it was safe last time. But everyone different. You don't start your second trimester until 14 weeks
