Not happy with my baby sitter 😡

Alex
I was so fortunate to be home with my daughter for almost 7 months before returning to work full time.  My boyfriend and I decided to start taking our daughter to the wife of a close friend of his that watches two other children at their home.  They're very trustworthy and they have school-age children of their own.  As sad as I was to leave her during the day, I was happy to be back on a schedule.  After about two weeks of her being there during the day, I kept noticing Anna (my daughter) coming home with a diaper rash.  She never really had a diaper rash for all those months I was home with her, except for a couple little irritations that went away quickly with Desitin or A&D, etc.  I shrugged it off as her just playing a lot and the baby sitter not having a new tube of diaper rash cream.  So the following week I made sure to bring her some extra.  The passing weeks Anna would keep coming home with a worse and worse rash!  It would clear up over the weekend once I was home with her and able to tend to her like I wanted.  But, yet again, Monday after work she'd come home with another flare up.  Then it got to the point where little blisters would form and they bled!  I was FURIOUS.  She was taken to the doctor and she said to use the nystatin cream and at nights use that with some triple paste or extra strength desitin on it after the little broken skin areas healed.  That weekend it looked so much better and was clearing up.  Monday I gave the baby sitter an extra tube of the nystatin and expressed how important it was to keep the area dry, change her frequently, and apply the cream generously at each change.  She was more than willing and seemed very concerned.  (I'm thinking, she watches one other girl who is a year old and a boy before and after school, it's not like she's overwhelmed by tons of little ones and she just has the two girls all day! Plus-- she's raised three kids of her own....) That evening, Anna's blisters had opened back up after she was picked up and she was red and inflamed all over! She was screaming during her change and bleeding from how bad it was.  I was so heartbroken to see her in this uncomfortable situation.  This is weeks in the making and I was FED UP!  I pay this woman to care for my daughter and I feel like we're going in circles.  If someone else could have watched her for cheaper or a family member, I would have switched right then and there....but my boyfriend and I both have full time jobs and it's difficult to just take off or find someone new in such short notice.  I work at a child care center (very, very expensive) and I'm the Lead Toddler Teacher.  I'll be starting Anna at my work once she turns one, I needed to start the enrollment process because it takes some time, and so taking her to my work isn't even an option for another 6 weeks.  We finally found out that the baby sitter had been using the other girl's diapers on my daughter when she came home a couple times with different ones on.  We confronted her, yet again, and she said she didn't realize it was a big deal.  I said, my daughter has sensitive skin, we give you certain diapers because they work well for her!  She breaks out when other brands are used, LIKE WE MENTIONED MANY TIMES.  So, after she said she was sorry about using the other diapers, she came home this past Friday and her rash looked better than usual.  I'm hoping that Monday after work it'll continue to improve.... because, as of last night and from being home with her all day, her little bum looks so much better. I swear, if my baby comes home with a horrible rash on Monday, there will be hell to pay!!!!  Yes, she's feeding and caring for my daughter, but I really feel like I'm not asking for much but to just help tend to my daughter during diaper changes a little more until it clears up.  I hate thinking that she's just sitting in a soiled or soaking wet diaper for way longer than she should be.  😭😭 Sorry for the long post, I'm just so frustrated and hate being THAT kind of mom, but damn it!  It's not rocket science.  I can't wait until she gets to come to work with me starting May and I'll be in the next classroom over from her.  I love the company I work for, so I know she'll be in amazing hands and spoiled (since she's the teacher's daughter next door! 😂😂).  Plus, half off tuition! Woo woo.
Any way..... I'll update Monday after work if things are better or worse..... i really hope this doesn't continue. Â
