My unplanned birth story
Let me start off by saying "Be careful what you wish for" I had been wishing for baby to hurry up and come because I was getting so tired of being pregnant. On Wednesday, March 22nd, I went for my 37 week prenatal checkup. Nurse took my vitals as usual and my doctor did a cervical check. I was only dilated to a 1. But my doctor said that he noticed I had high blood pressure so he sent me over to the hospital to be monitored for a few hours and to get some lab work done. Okay. Well I get over to the hospital and they hook me up and took a pee sample and some blood work. Several hours later my doctor comes in and tells me he wants me to stay overnight for a 24 hour urine test because there was some protein present in my sample. My blood pressure had stabilized though. And they had taken more blood work because they had ordered the wrong tests the first time around. So flash forward to about 5pm Thursday and my doctor seems confident that I'll get to go home since my bp was fine. He just wanted me to keep an eye on it. Two hours later he's back with my urine test results. Too much protein was present. Now he wants to induce me. I get admitted and settled in for the night. They begin at 6 am Friday morning. 6:30 I get the epidural. About 7:30 doctor breaks my water and I'm still only a 1. A long day goes by and I barely dilate any. It's about 4:30 in the afternoon when they come in and want me to put a peanut yoga ball between my legs to help me dilate. Otherwise I was going to have to have a c section. 6 pm and I'm at a 5. Progress. By 7:50ish I'm at a 9 and am ready to push. I pushed for an hour and got to pull my own baby out and onto my chest. At 37+3 weeks my beautiful baby boy was born at 8:54 pm on March 24th weighing in at 7 pounds 3 ounces 21 inches long and had a second degree tear. Originally due on April 11th. Although my delivery was unplanned, I'm blessed to have my little one. Thank you for reading😊
