Miracle Milo!
On Monday (3/27) i was 34 +5. I woke up to go to the bathroom at about 7am and my water broke. Me and my husband got to the hospital a little before 8, i was only having light period like cramps. They started doing the tests to make sure it was my water breaking which came back positive, and checked to see if i was dilated but i wasn't at all, and got me in a room probably a little after 9. We already new he was breech cuz we had just done an ultrasound the Wednesday before, and they did another to confirm he hadn't moved, so the plan was to keep him in for at least 24 hrs so they could give me 2 rounds of steroids to make sure his lungs would be ok when he came out. But as soon i got settled in the room the contractions started getting bad and just got worse each time. They gave me an IV with meds to stop the contractions and at first it wasn't working but then it kind of did for a little while and then all of a sudden the contractions got bad again and there was barely any time in between them, the dr decided to check me and she barely put her hand in was like "uh she's fully dilated we have to do it now i can feel the baby" so they threw the paper at me for me to sign and rushed me off to the OR at around 11. They started getting me prepped, by now the contractions were insane and i could barely move or talk, the anesthesiologist was about to give me the spinal and i had a big contraction and felt something in the canal, then she gave the injection and i had another contraction and now that i wasn't focused on the pain i could feel that it was definitely a foot in the canal and right when i was about to say something the dr went to put in my catheter and saw the foot coming out and they all started rushing around and they just cut me open super fast, she didn't even have time to put the catheter in. As they were cutting me open one of the nurses realized they hadn't brought my husband in from the other room so someone ran and grabbed him and within a couple minutes of him walking in he got to see them pull out our son. They brought him aroud the curtain for a few seconds so i could see him and then took him away to work on him and let my husband cut the cord. Then i start hearing the dr and nurses start saying things like "that is really strange, I've never seen anything like that before".. apparently my uterus is heart shaped, my mom also had that and it caused a ton of problems with me and her during the pregnancy and delivery. But my little boy did amazing, he was breathing on his own and the only problem was he had swelling in a few places because of the position he was stuck in due to the shape of my uterus, and his leg that had started to come out was super swollen. The dr told us that we are very lucky he was able to make it this far without any problems and if he had stayed in and gotten any bigger we might of had some issues. So his timing was perfect, it was even better because my mom grandma and mother in law were already flying in that day to have a little baby shower for me so they just had to scramble and get the dads plane tickets and everyone was able to meet him right away :)
His name is Milo Richard and he was 4lbs 9oz and 16 1/4in :) our little miracle milo <3
He will be a week old tomorrow, he has still had no issues except he gets too tired and has to finish his food through a feeding tube, so we are just waiting for him to be strong enough and eat a certain amount on his own and then he will be discharged. He is able to do a little more each day so hopefully we will be going home soon.
