Can anyone reccomend some good books to read to prepare us for childbirth and baby?!

I loved "what to expect when you're expecting" it's very informative and I felt very prepared. They also have other books that continue...like early years and the toddler stages etc.

This isn't really a book for expecting moms, but I have a friend who just had a little one and she swears by the book "Twelve hours' sleep by twelve weeks old". I'm looking forward to reading it and trying it out!

I read Expecting Better! It was super informative. Written. May an economist who scoured the world's data to give real stats on all the shoulds and should nots of pregnancy. Really helps you relax when you realize most of the data we're presented with is hardly backed up with sound evidence.

How to grow a baby and push it out - Clemmie Hooper. It's a really good, down to earth and easy to read book. It's British, but I believe she has written (or is in the process of writing) an international version...  x

Anything by Ina May.  It may seem dated at times but it is spot on.  I planned on having a natural birth so the stories from the mommas really helped calm my nerves and get me focused.  A large part of pain management is mind over matter.

Plus, there was a part two which detailed the hospital approach to childbirth and what each thing is, why they do it, side effects, etc.  I felt very empowered by the little techniques I learned in the book.

I loved Mindful Birthing by Nancy Bardache. I was into mindful meditation at time of fussy pregnancy but it had a lot of other good info about labor birthing process too. Ina May was too crunchy for me and I felt this was a good read for me (giving birth in hospital but treated by midwives)
