is my son really that small?

Everyone that sees my baby immediately jumps to how tiny he is! When I say everyone, I mean in his short life, only like 2 people haven't said that. It's pissed me off from the start. He was quite small at first at 5lbs10oz and 19in. But now at only 12 weeks he's going on 13lbs and is 23in! I feel like while he may be on the smaller end, it's not "SO TINY!" like everyone says he is. It makes me feel a little insecure about his size, and I don't really know how to explain it. I know he's perfectly healthy and grows like a weed but it makes me upset and kind of hurts me feelings having everyone say that. I guess it's a bit stupid, but any other moms out there like me?

I think it's just a thing people say about babies. It's not meant as a bad thing. Both my babies were small, my first being born at 5lbs 7oz, and when I was pregnant with my second, every time I saw a baby, that was my reaction too, even if they were in the higher percentile. People just forget how little babies are, they're literally tiny humans.

I felt like I had a big baby at 8lbs and people said that to me too. I think it's just something people say.. All babies ARE tiny in comparison to us adults, I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️ lol

People tell me my son is tiny all the time. He was 6lbs 6oz and 20in when he was born, and at his 4 month appointment he was 13lbs 8oz and 24in. His doctor said he's in almost the 15th percentile now I think. I just get annoyed when people tell me how small he is because seriously, I know.

It really is the same when your baby is chunky. People feel they can just exclaim "how chunky...chubby...even fat" your baby is.  How about we just keep the comments to "how sweet", or "what beautiful hair...eyes...lips"   As a new mom (34 years ago) I already felt inadequate and unsure.  I didn't need "friends and strangers" adding to my stress.  All babies chubby, skinny, long, short, black, white, etc. are simply beautiful!

My daughter is 5 months old and only 13 lbs! He is perfect size and looks so snuggable! Enjoy him while he is little because they grow like weeds :)

That's exactly my baby's size at 12 weeks!! He was born at 34 weeks and as a preemie he was 6lbs 2oz lol. He's 13lbs 4oz now! And while he may not be totally pudged out or tall, I think he's perfect size!

He's not tiny! My son is 2 months old and 10.2 lbs he's in the 5th percentile but he's still got some chunk!

My kid is almost 3 months and hasn't even hit the 11lb mark. Some kids are just smaller. I wouldn't worry about it.
