Baby hair thinning?

Is it normal for a babies hair to thin? He was born with a full head of hair and now he has like a bald spot at the back of his head where it touches the ground or bed when he sleeps. Is this normal?

First picture he was a day old and had a lot of dark hair. Now he's over 5 months and he lost most of it and now it's a reddish blonde.
