Anyone else get annoyed when they hear people say a baby is advanced? I mean my son started babbling & sitting up sooner than "normal", but I still don't think he's advanced. To me it's just a term used to compare babies & make one seem better than the other.

I jokingly say "gifted!" When our baby does subpar things like spitting up lol

Haha yes! My husband and I always say "wow he's SO advanced" (jokingly). It's obnoxious to say in our opinion!

I always say I have a smart and strong baby. She used her smarts to figure out how to crawl extra early so she can make get way to the dog's toys so she can chew on them 😂

My oct 2016 daughter,  is reading books. actually reading. She started talking very early. She had hundreds of words at age one. By the time she was 1 and half, she was repeating any and all words. She was already putting two and 3 sentences together.  Noe shes reading baby books. 
So yes, I can call my daughter advanced. I mean.. shes not on the spectrum for autism,  because that was our first worry..shes very advanced for her age. But shes a happy, jumpy,  runny, smiling child,  who pays attention to everything and mimics everything. She also was running at 10 months old. 
I have seen early steps once for an evaluation, because I wanted to make sure we know if she shows signs of being on the spectrum and they told me she's an advanced child.  She sees something once and does it perfectly every time after that.
I mean.. I'm sitting here on the couch and shes building houses with a foundation, roofs, windows and walls to decide the rooms into. 
Other kids her age dont come close to what she does. Am I the one to brag? Nah.. but posts like this one,  is shaming moms that do have advanced kids. Or high functioning autism spectrum disorder and very intelligent. Who are you to be " annoyed", with how people describe their own kids?
Mind your business and let others tall about their kids.
And now let the shame begin
(" why did you feel the need to comment and tell me about your life" , " wow, arent you special" or " congratulations,  you made my point".. )
