How long did it take you to get over your first love?

About two years ago I started dating this guy. He was my first love, first kiss, first person I was intimate with, etc. We dated for over a year and then he broke up with me because he didn't love my anymore. This was one year ago. So now, a whole year has passed, and yet I'm still not over it at all and my feelings are unchanged.

I haven't talked to him in roughly 10 months. I've tried making changes in my life and pursuing new hobbies and even new guys (that didn't really work at all, because I rarely catch feelings lol) but nothing seems to help. I'm not over it at all. Honestly, I catch myself pining often. Its like my brain doesn't want me to move on.

How long did it take you to get over your first love? What did you do? What helped? Nothing seems to be working for me and I'm terrified.

It took me about two years to get over my first love. It's ok to not feel ready, but don't get stuck on the thought of that person. Do something that motivates you to become a better version of yourself. Whether if that's helping people, exercising, or writing. Become so engulfed in your own happiness and success that you won't have room for anything else.
