Early scan?

Hi everyone,

I'm UK based and we don't usually get our first scan until 12 weeks unless we're high risk. This is my first baby and I'll be 4 weeks pregnant tomorrow. Thinking of booking an early scan privately for 7-8 weeks. Has anyone else had this done? And when would you say is best to have it? I want it late enough to hear the babies heart but early enough to reassure me that it's all good to be okay!

Hi I'm in UK too & had my private scan done from Babybond. They are great & have their locations everywhere in UK, they do great US pics for you & you can also get a cd. It does not cost much, for a regular scan it costs around £35. Just google Babybond & something should come up. Congrats & wish you all the best x

Hi Carys I am also in the U.K. And am 6weeks pregnant today with my second hold. As it's my boyfriends first we are booking a private scan for next week as they do it from around 7 weeks 😊 it's nice to just be reassured sometimes as it's horrible waiting to get to 12 weeks xx

I'm an IVF patient...first US at 5 weeks no heartbeat yet, then at 6 weeks and heard heartbeat. Congratulations and good luck!

Hi also Uk based. We had early scan yesterday as we miscarried at 13 weeks last time and I couldn't go that long without knowing. We booked for 8 weeks 4 days so we are far enough for heart beat and near enough to the 12 week scan too so not long to wait after this one. All was well. We used baby bond- Ultrasound-direct.com who are a national company and are ace. Staff were lovely too. X

Uk too.......I was told it was unlikely we would get pregnant naturally so I struggled to believe it! I refused to tell our parents until I'd had a scan at 8 weeks and seen the heartbeat!! X

I'm I'm based (: I'm currently 5 & half to 6 weeks we aren't sure & I was thinking of paying for a private one. Early scans are about £90. Was wondering whether to do it. Have midwife app on 24th may but scan wouldn't be until June I done know if I could wait that long xx

Hia Carys,
I had an early scan last Tuesday at 6weeks 4 days. I'd had a bit of a bleed on Friday so they booked me into the EPU.  I could clearly see heart beat and had quite a good view of jelly bean.  Where are you based?

U.K. Here too! 
I actually was unsure of how far along I was when I found out so I got a scan the week after I went to doctors. I would have been around 6 weeks. Anyway, I never got to hear my baby's heartbeat until my last midwife appointment (12ish weeks)  
We did see it flickering on ultrasound at around 8 weeks but never heard it until last appointment at midwife
