Period like cramps 37 weeks pregnant

For the past 3 days now I've had on and off period like cramps like my period is about to start, they are consistent on and off, now they feel like they may be getting a tiny bit stronger like the feeling of actually being on my period. I had a doctors appointment this morning and they didn't say it was anything to be worried about. But they seem to have gotten a little bit worse since then. Has anyone experienced this before they went into labor? I'm 38 weeks Wednesday.
