What is an IUD

Question

I've noticed a few things on this app about IUDs.. Should I know what that is? I don't.

Answer

It's a long term (anywhere from 2 to 10 years) reversible birth control. It sits inside the uterus and either releases hormones (hormonal) or copper ions (copper Paragard), either of which help prevent pregnancy. IUDs are the most common reversible birth control used globally, but aren't particularly popular or common in the US for a number of reasons. Up until recently, they were almost never covered by insurance.

I have a paragard. I love it. I don't tolerate hormonal birth control well, so it's great for me.
