Are you the only person in your workplace that pumps?

pumps?" /> Feeling lonely. Sometimes I feel like a burden to my workplace and co-workers don't understand why I need ' breaks' to pump.

Sorry you feel left out.  Stay at home mom here so I can't offer much in the workplace advice.  When I was working I always wondered though how smokers seem to take as many breaks as they want vs. non smokers who took less or none and no one notices but somehow pumping is an issue?  Just my 2 cents for whatever it's worth.

I feel the same way sometimes but then I remind myself that it is my right to breastfeed my daughter and I'm doing it for her. I'll do anything for my daughter so that's what gives me the courage to stand up and ask for pumping breaks on days where I am it given coverage or ablinch break.

I'm the only person young enough to have a baby! I do work with a few mom's, but I still feel like they don't fully get me going to pump.. especially when it takes so long 😔

Only one currently, we've had two others in the past year and two that will be next year. However our administrators are males and just don't get it. I'm a teacher so you would think they would be supportive of us having kids since our jobs revolve around kids...but not so much.

Hang in there. In the long run, this is such a short part of their lives that we have to do this.

I'm the only one, but thankfully a lot of my co-workers are parents, so many of the women either went through it themselves and a lot of the guys either have some sense because their partners went through it or know just enough to stay out of it. It is hard, though, because there's basically one place in the building with appropriate levels of privacy and sometimes it needs used for counseling. There's a schedule so I can have enough times, but if they or I get behind then there can be issues.

I full time breatfeed and full time pump. I pump after every feeding and supplement with my own milk. I pump at work. I'm a counselor and have my own office. I try to pump in between clients, which gives me the 15 minutes. We had tongue tie issues in the beginning and I pumped ahead, while supplementing with formula until I could use my own milk. I feel alone in this. My whole life revolves around breastfeeding. I am the only pumper at work. I work from 4 to 8, three days a week.

But my coworker is coming back from maternity leave in a month and will be too.
