Let's face it, cheating is cheating, but which is worse?

Both is just bad as each other. Physical leaves emotional damage and emotional..why it leaves emotional damage too! No point in debating what two bad things is worse than another, it's bad and unacceptable end of.

Personal opinion first: they're both as bad as each other.

In psychology at A level we looked at a study (don't know the name sorry) and it basically showed that men cared more about physical cheating but women cared more about emotional cheating. Both are bad but I can see that if my partner told me he loved someone else or was sharing his troubles with someone else I would be devestated. I would be devestated if he physically cheated too but I can see where the studies got the results they did!

I think there's a false stigma that physical cheating is ALWAYS worse. However, physical cheating is something you can never take back or change that happened and it's a physical consequence as well as an emotional...regardless though both forms of cheating are wrong and miserable. Emotional cheating can be worse in some situations.. it honestly just depends on the circumstances.

They're both horrible, but if I'm being honest, I think it's 51% emotional and 49% physical. So emotional cheating is a liiiiiittle but worse imo. I think it's worse simply because it's easier to walk away from physical cheating. Like they can just toss that person aside like it meant nothing. But with emotional cheating, there's so much more involved there. It's not as easy. The worst one is when it's a mixture of both physical and emotional cheating. There's no coming back from that.

I'm br sure how I feel about "emotional cheating." My crazy ex accused me of emotionally cheating just for having conversations with my best friend (who happens to be a guy but there is nothing, not even sexual tension between us). Sometimes I feel like it's a term used by controlling people to make you feel in the wrong
