Attacking

Yesterday I was studying in campus with a group of girls. One girl decided she was going to bring a tea and she put it right beside my laptop. I shifted it away from my laptop and told her to be careful. Long story short she ended up elbowing her own tea and spilling it all over my brand new MacBook. I messaged her nicely today saying that it still wasn't working and that I thought she needed to take responsibility for the damages. She started saying that I was "attacking" her and blaming her for something that was out of her control. She started freaking out and started saying that I have to go check and see what's wrong with it because maybe it isn't water damage. BUT there was NOTHING wrong with my laptop until she spilled her tea on it. She's refusing to own up to it and offered me $40. $40 on a $1200 laptop. Are you freaking kidding me?? I am taking it to my school constable because this is ridiculous. She broke my property, whether it's an accident or not she still spilled tea on my laptop. Is it wrong to expect her to compensate for her wrong doing? I think of it like if I hit your car by accident I still have to pay for it. If you break my property by accident you should pay for it.
