Gripe water

I gave my daughter, who is 2 months old, gripe water because sometimes she won't burp and she'll lose her mind. When I give her gripe water, about 20 minutes later she poops. Not like a little, it's a lot. And I know it relieves gas and what not, but is it supposed to make your baby poop??
