How long can you leave NuvaRing out?

Today I was supposed to put my NuvaRing in at 8:30 am but I forgot and went to school so I won't be able to put it in until I get home at 3 pm. Do I have to wait seven days to have sex again or am I still protected since it's been less than a day? Please help! Thanks ladies!

Use condoms for the next 7 days better safe then worried

With Nuvaring you have approximately a three hour wiggle room where you can be late and still be protected. This is why you can take it out for three hours once a day for sex. Since you passed the three hour window I would suggest either abstaining as you suggested
