Is it rude?

Question

So my husbands cousin has triplets who we haven't even seen but twice their whole life. They just turned 3 & their birthday party is tomorrow. Myself & my son(9 months old) were invited to the party...husband is deployed. We haven't gotten them a gift. I have absolutely no idea what they even like or need since they own everything lol. Is it rude if we don't get them a gift?

Side note I don't expect them to get my son anything for his birthday as we aren't having a huge party.

I think it's extremely rude to show up at ANY birthday party without a gift. Especially families. Get a gift card to somewhere and a card. No need to make it complicated.

Get them books!  I think not bringing a gift is rude and children can always use new books to read! 😊

I would at least get them something small or put a little bit of money in a card if you can't think of a gift. Buying gifts for 3 kids at once must be difficult to begin with anyways. I wouldn't feel comfortable going without bringing anything though

I personally see it as rude to go to a birthday party and not bring a gift if you are able to get one. In a situation like that I would just bring a gift card. I personally prefer gift cards over gifts because you can buy whatever you want or need with the money.

People will probably think it's rude and there will always be someone in the family that will be the "gossiper" , but I honestly cannot understand why every holiday and celebration has to be laden with gifts.  .. !! It should be about the family getting together,  especially since your husband is gone and having a good time.  There should be zero expectations of a gift or anything financial.  At our wedding we specifically requested no gifts.  We didn't want anyone to not come bc they couldn't get a present and we certainly didn't want anyone to feel obligated.  Their presence was gift enough.  Don't feel guilty for once second.  !!

I would just give them money in a card. Anymore, unless we request something, I'd rather people just get my son a gift card or give him money in a card so we can get him something he'll use. His 1st Birthday was in January, got a ton of toys (people basically ignored what suggestions were on his invite [for example: he likes Marshall from Paw Patrol, a couple people got him Chase stuff. He hasn't touched the Chase toys]) and hasn't played with half of the toys he got.

I know it's hard to buy for 3 kids at once but imagine the pressure the parents are under on the same sort of thing. It's not just 3 birthdays but 3 Easter baskets, 3 stockings to fill at Christmas, 3 back to school wardrobes. I'm sure the parents appreciate anything. 
If you really can't manage 3 gifts, get one thing all three can enjoy. Think a sprinkler for the summer, a favorite movie, a game that all can play at once, and make it to all of them
