Iron deficency?

Question

Can this cause any problems?  I'm starting iron supplements tomorrow but can this deficiency have any effect even in labor or will the pills help even for during labor?  I know it's probably s db question but I have never dealt with this.

You need iron rich foods and a good iron supplement with vitamin c to help it absorb. It can effect whether you can have an epidural depending on your levels.
Focus on getting in plenty of iron rich foods, your prenatal and your iron pills. Drink a gallon of water daily and if you become constipated from the iron pills....take colace.

I had it with my daughter and I actually ended up staying in the hospital an extra 2 days because my levels were so low. Other than that, I didn't have any problems

Yea similar to what Renee said my doctor just said it could be an issue when you lose blood during labor so I am taking iron supplements now that she gave me.

I had this through my first pregnancy. It didn't change anything during labor but they did tell me after I gave birth they might of had to do a blood transfusion so really depends on how well the pills work for you and how much blood you lose during labor.  I never had to get the transfusion and labor was fine. I wouldn't worry about it
